Co-Artistic Director and Co-Founder - Concrete Youth
January 2019 - November 2024
Concrete Youth is an award-winning charity dedicated to creating innovative and exciting multi-sensory theatre for audiences living with profound multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). We have reached over 4,500 people with PMLD across five continents.
I am responsible for representing and realising the artistic programme of future work in the touring arm of the charity, I also pride myself in providing work for local artists and facilitating exciting development opportunities. My role is to form ideas and concepts for shows as well as directing, devising, bid writing, facilitation & producing.
Prague Quadrennial - PQ Talks on ASMR in theatre, June 2023
Delivered a flash talk to members of the festival on our published research in PMLD Link from The ASMR Project that Concrete Youth conducted from 2020-2021. The talk discussed the application of ASMR in sensory theatre at the world’s largest festival of scenography, theatre design and architecture.
Regional Young Theatre Directors Programme (RTYDS) - Hull Truck Theatre & Middle Child Theatre Company, May 2021 & July 2021
Placement supported by Hull Truck & Middle Child where I assistant directed shows alongside R&Ds, focusing on dramaturgy and storytelling. I received mentorship from Paul Smith (CEO & Artistic Director of Middle Child), Tom Saunders (Associate Director at Hull Truck) and Mark Babych (Artistic Director at Hull Truck) on the process of a director in differing theatre settings. On being a director in a theatre company to a regional theatre building.
